All of this AI expansion takes serious money—and SoftBank is leaning hard into that reality. Switching gears to health tech, Stanford researchers are moving toward human testing of an experimental intranasal vaccine concept designed for broad respiratory protection. Another health story that feels like science fiction, but is getting more concrete: a Northwestern co-led team has demonstrated an implantable “living pharmacy” designed to keep engineered cells alive so they can produce medicines continuously inside the body. Past attempts at these kinds of implants have often run into a simple problem—cells die when they don’t get enough oxygen. This design adds oxygen-generating electronics to support densely packed cells. In rat studies, the implanted device produced multiple therapeutics over about a month, with far better cell survival than similar implants without that oxygen support.
